THE THEATRE SOCIETY
We’d love to have you join us
The Theatre Society of Columbia Entertainment Company is CEC’s friends group. We meet the fourth Monday in August - November and January - May.
Organized in 1991, the Theatre Society has supported CEC in many ways. CEC, an ever expanding community theatre, is run by volunteers. When CEC moved into its current location in 1991, it became obvious to the the Board of Directors would need additional help in running and maintaining the new building. The Theatre Society provides that extra help in many ways.
Members help with set building, costume sewing, ticket sales and concessions. If there is a special need at CEC such as fund raising, building and grounds maintenance Theatre Society members jump in to help out.
But our favorite thing to do is enjoy the plays that are performed at CEC.
Favorite meetings include Potlock dinners and our annual souper day in October (home made soups galore!). Also popular are meetings to help members learn more about CEC and how it works. This year we're participating in a "reader's theatre" during a meeting, using scenes from CEC's winning plays from its 2006 Jackie White Memorial Playwriting Contest.
Theatre Society members also hand make our annual angels. Each year since 1993 Betsy Phillips has designed a new angel and members have gathered to help make the angels. Money from the angels sales have provided CEC with its green canopy, orchestra music stands, fax machine, lighting equipment and many other things required to support the theatre.

Dues are $20 for single members or $35 for couples. Moneys from dues go to the support of Columbia Entertainment Company.
